Despite the year of manufacture, there could be different kinds of MDB boards attached to it. This vending machine's main interface runs on Windows. Its Windows application uses RS232 Serial to communicate to a separate MDB board, in order to give it its MDB features.

The Vending Machine must be set into is respective protocol, to be able to work with the adequate protocol supported by the card reader. When the machine switches between VCCS and MDB Modes, pricing of each item will be wrong, due to conversion between JPY and local currency. There is a need to set the price of each item again. Also, the meter readings from the machine, in terms of amount collected, will also be off.
